Even MS Comic Sans Has A Posse

Chanel in MS Comic Sans

The wretched typeface MS Comic Sans was unleashed upon unsuspecting secretaries and MS Word enthusiasts in the mid 90′s and has been showing up everywhere from office break rooms to garage sale signs ever since. Well, as it turns out, even comic sans has a group of defenders that seek to remake the world entirely in comic sans. Great. Personally, I hate the typeface and think the world would be a slightly better place sans comic sans; however, these folks don’t agree. See more of their witty re-imagining of popular logos below the cut.

So Someone On Tumblr Is Animating Banksy …

September 7, 2012

There’s little info in the way of the (pretty talented) animator ABVH who is making these awesome animated Banksy GIF’s but they pretty much explain themselves. Nice work!

Whoever it is has already done 6. Looking forward to more – check some of them out after the cut. Read more →

Michael H. Rhode’s From Below

September 6, 2012

I can’t tell if I should be viewing these as an ant looking up, or from the floor as everything is being lifted up. German artist Michael’s H. Rhode forced perspective photographs are, admittedly, pretty novel.

His series of forced perspective photographs titled “FROM BELOW” is both disorienting and impossibly wide-angled; but, once you get what’s going on, fun to stare at for a while.

9 more below.

Steve Thomas Makes Badass Posters

September 5, 2012

Saw some of his other stuff on Reddit which lead me to these planetary tourism posters (but, trust, he does some other
amazing work.) Sadly, all these are out of stock, but he has tons of others like his Star Wars posters still up for grabs.
Say, weren’t we promised jetpacks at some point 50 years ago?

More of his stuff below the cut. Read more →

Shadow Art – Kumi Yamashita

Some mind bending sculpture from New York based Kumi Yamashita. The few that are included here that are also made from scrap metal and various junk were part of a collaboration with Tim Noble + Sue Webster. Also, check out the video at the end of the post for some shots of one of Kumi’s sculptures in actions. It’s saying “My name is Sylvia.”

Also, I’ve taken the plunge and setup a Tumblr! Shock and awe. It’s way more freeform than the regular blog. If you’re on tumblr, follow me over at http://unstage.tumblr.com and I’ll be sure to follow you back. Peace!
